My years at SMA
I came on staff in 1988. That was the good old days when we just did seva, with no guidelines. I did my practices full time. That was the time when selected people were asked to do certain sevas. I just hide in my little corner with no responsibilites doing my seva. As times change, I kept to my niche, stay behind my computer in my little office.

Transition
When I left the Ashram, my body needed a lot of help. My eyes tired easily and did not focus well. I had "tennis elbow" from play tug of war with garden fixture with a water hose. They said that the Ashram prepares you for the work in the world. What does that means? I was a computer programmer before I went into the Ashram, and my eyes don't want to do anything with computer, my left brain is on strike.
Going out to the world to a new life at the beginning of the new Millennium. Time to get out of my shell. The Ashram prepares me to face life, think for myself and see beyond the daily events.

My Relationship with Siddha Yoga
Is it sacrilege? Lots of ex-staff became actively involved with other church groups. For myself, I found that it's very practical. I play GG at the center, and quite active in the music department, but I do other things also.
Since I left SMA, my relationship with SY changed a lot. For one thing, I have to go out of the Siddha Yoga center for most things. One rule at the center is no networking. It was announced at a community meeting that there out government agency out there to help.
Many churches out there have many special interest groups--- singles group, yes, a husband is on my agenda... I was running after some guy when I ran into Siddha Yoga...
Many churches have a bulletin board just for the purpose of networking, where everyone can put their business flyer on it.
Also, at the center, people are firmly established in the worldly affairs heading towards the spiritual realm. Whereas as I am heading in the other direction. I have to spend my time learning about worldly things, especially since I had been living in the Ashram for close to 20 years without newspaper and TV. I barely knew who the President of the US is...
